Mejiro Ryan Build Guide | Uma Musume Pretty Derby

Written by Priya Kapoor

In Umamasume: Pretty Derby, Mejiro Ryan gets thrown into more Long races than she really wants, so training her can feel frustrating. She shines as a Medium or Long-distance Late-runner or Pace build, but only if you prep early with recovery skills, Speed focus, and a solid Long inheritance.

She’s a strong finisher, but if you don’t set her up right, she burns out halfway through.

Stat Priorities

Speed

Go for 900–1000 or even a little bit more. She needs Speed to keep up during Medium races and to not get dropped late in Long ones.

Stamina

At least 500+, or around 400 if you bring recovery skills. Aim for more if you're sticking to Long builds.

Power

Target 700+. Helps with her acceleration, especially when running Late or during long straights.

Wit

Get her to 400+. She needs it to keep mood and trigger skills like “Feel the Burn!” reliably.

Guts

250+ is often enough. Useful in Long runs, but don’t overinvest unless you skip healing skills.

Best Support Card Layouts

Balanced Runner Deck

3 Speed, 1 Stamina, 1 Power, 1 Wit
Good for handling Long and Medium events in one route. Includes recovery options and still lets her build key stats.

Late Skill Focus

2 Speed, 1 Power, 1 Wit, 1 Friend, 1 Recovery
If you're going for Late Surger, use cards that give skills like Slick Surge or Homestretch Haste. Use Super Creek or another Stamina card to avoid collapse.

F2P Safety Build

2 Speed, 2 Power, 1 Wit, 1 Stamina
Easy to run with basic cards. Bond growth can be slower, but the stats are safe for Long races if you get a good Legacy.

Training Tips

  • Prioritize Speed early, but don’t neglect Power or Wit

  • Train in recovery skills before each G1 if you're not bringing high raw Stamina

  • Use Recreation instead of Rest if Wit is high and mood is low

  • Try to unlock rainbow drills by Summer Camp to boost stats late

  • Rest when needed... she burns out fast if you push too hard

Inheritance Notes

  • Always get Long A if you plan to run URA seriously

  • Add one blue recovery skill and either a Medium/Long booster skill

  • Borrow high-spark legacy girls for Stamina or Wit bonuses

Race Style Options

Ryan works well as Pace in most builds. Late Surger is strong too, but can feel random if you don’t have Wit high enough. If you like consistency, stick with Pace.

Avoid Front entirely. She doesn’t have the tools to dominate early.

Final Blurb

Mejiro Ryan is cool, stylish, and a nightmare to train if you go in blind. If you prep her with recovery, keep her Wit high, and push Speed hard, she can win URA without crashing mid-run.

She doesn’t like being forced into Long races, but if you get Long A and learn a few heals, she stops complaining.

If you're building Vodka, here's our full guide with stat targets and inheritance setup.

TL;DR

  • Works best as a Pace or Late-runner in Medium/Long races

  • Stat goals: Speed 900+, Stamina 500+ (or 400+ with healing), Power 700+, Wit 400+, Guts 250+

  • Use 3 Speed, 1 Power, 1 Wit, 1 Recovery card for safest coverage

  • Avoid Front builds completely

  • Inherit Long A and bring healing or recovery skills

  • Use Recreation often if mood is yellow or worse

  • Watch out for energy drain in back-to-back Long races
