Oblivion Remastered Origins Guide

In Oblivion Remastered, Bethesda decided to sprinkle a little extra roleplay magic into character creation. Enter “Origins”—a brand-new feature that lets you pick where your character actually comes from within their race's homeland. Because apparently, being a lizard person or cat burglar wasn’t specific enough (…something we agree with).
If you're wondering what Origins are, what they change, and why you should care, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered like a good set of Daedric armor.
What Are Origins in Oblivion Remastered?
Origins are basically your character’s "hometown story." Every race now has two distinct Origins you can choose when creating your hero. Think of it as picking your background—whether you're a city slicker from the heart of the Empire or a rebellious outsider who doesn't like being told what to do.
Right now, Origins seem to be more about lore and flavor. They give you a little backstory to help you roleplay, and there are reports of new voice lines reacting to your choice. No confirmed gameplay bonuses yet though, so don’t expect your Argonian from Thornmarsh to suddenly swim faster.
All Origins by Race
Here’s the full list of Origins you can pick from:
Argonian: Arnesia or Thornmarsh
Breton: Systres or High Rock
Dark Elf: Vvardenfell or Mainland Morrowind
High Elf: Auridon or Summerset Isle
Imperial: Nibenay or Colovia
Khajiit: Anequina or Pellitine
Nord: Western Skyrim or Eastern Skyrim
Orc: Stronghold or Orsinium
Redguard: Dragontail Mountains or Alik'r Desert
Wood Elf: Grahtwood or Reaper's March
Each choice gives you a little lore snippet in the character creator, so you can pretend you're really deep into Tamriel's geography.
Do Origins Affect Gameplay?
Right now, Origins are pretty much only for roleplay and immersion. You won’t suddenly get bonus stats for being a Nord from the east instead of the west. But who knows—Bethesda loves surprises (and patches). For now, treat it as a fun way to add personality to your character beyond "guy who loots everything."
Final Blurb
If you’ve ever wanted to argue that your Khajiit is from Pellitine, thank you very much, now’s your chance. Origins in Oblivion Remastered won’t change how hard you hit or how fast you sneak, but they’ll give you that extra bit of flavor to make your Hero of Kvatch feel like more than just another dungeon-crawling pack mule. Plus, it’s a great excuse when NPCs ask why you’re bad at directions… Just blame it on being from out of town.
