Oblivion Remastered: The Killing Field Quest Guide

If you thought defending a farm would be easy, welcome to The Killing Field—where goblins, glitches, and grieving fathers await.

How to Start The Killing Field Quest

Head to The Grey Mare in Chorrol and talk to Valus Odiil. He’s worried about his sons trying to defend their family farm from goblin attacks. Agree to help, because clearly, two guys with swords think they can handle a goblin invasion solo.

Find the Odiil Brothers

You’ll find Antus and Rallus Odiil waiting outside Weynon Priory, just east of Chorrol. Once you speak to them, they'll march toward Odiil Farm like they’re leading an army—spoiler: they’re not.

Defend the Farm

Once you reach the vegetable patch, get ready. Originally, this fight was three nice little waves of goblins. In Oblivion Remastered, sometimes things get... messy. You might face a proper goblin party (and you're not invited). If this happens and you get swarmed by 20 goblins instead of 10, congratulations—you've hit a known bug. Just reload your save, and it might be able to reset to the intended waves: two waves of three goblins and a final wave of four.

Tips to Keep the Brothers Alive:

  • Focus on goblins attacking Antus—he loves charging ahead like he's immortal.

  • Use a heal other spell if you have one.

  • Summons, crowd control spells, or even using your horse (like Shadowmere) as a distraction can help.

  • Lower the difficulty if needed—Chillrend is worth your pride.

Claim Your Reward

Once all goblins are down, head back to Valus Odiil at The Grey Mare.

  • If both sons survive, you get Chillrend, a powerful leveled enchanted sword.

  • If only one survives, you get 150 gold and a sad pat on the back.

  • If both die, you get nothing but regret.

Pro tip: If you're aiming for the best version of Chillrend, help the brothers survive at level 1, but don’t turn in the quest until you hit level 25 or higher. The reward scales with your level when you complete it—not when you start.

Bonus Loot

Check the farmhouse for a Nirnroot and grab all the free vegetables you can carry. Nothing says victory like looting a carrot patch.

Watch Out for These Bugs

  • Massive goblin spawns: Reload if you get swarmed.

  • Brothers freezing after waves: Another reload should fix it.

  • Invisible Count’s Ring (unrelated but common in Chorrol quests): Always loot carefully.

Final Blurb

Saving two overly confident brothers from a goblin horde isn’t exactly relaxing, but Chillrend makes it all worthwhile. Just remember to save often, reload if goblins start multiplying like rabbits, and maybe remind Antus he's not invincible. Welcome to Cyrodiil—where even farming is dangerous.
