Why Be a Chef in Pantheon?

Being a Chef in Pantheon is more than just cooking meals for fun, and we made a guide to show you why. Food is critical for survival and success in the game, and well-prepared dishes help players face tough situations. Here’s what food that you make can do:

  • Provide Stat Boosts: Increase strength, dexterity, wisdom, or other core stats.

  • Provide Environmental Resistance: Counteract freezing climates or resist diseases.

  • Help in Combat Preparation: Buff stamina recovery, haste, or other combat benefits.

Your role as a Chef makes sure that adventurers stay strong, survive challenges, and thrive in dangerous areas.

Getting Started as a Chef

To become a Chef, you must choose the Provisioner profession. Here’s what you need:

  1. Learn the Cooking Skill: Speak with a trainer, like the Tavern Keeper, to begin your culinary journey.

  2. Gather Ingredients: Food comes from:

    • Animals: Meat (bear, boar, venison).

    • Fishing: Trout, salmon, or other fresh fish.

    • Plants: Fruits, vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms.

    • Spices: Gathered in the wild or purchased from vendors.

  3. Cooking Tools: Start with a Frying Pan. This basic tool allows you to combine ingredients into meals.

How Cooking Works

Cooking is a mix of experimentation and discovery.

  • Use your frying pan or other cooking tools to combine 3–4 ingredients.

  • Different combinations create dishes with unique effects.

  • All successful recipes are saved in your Crafting Journal for future use.

You can cook at:

  • Campfires: Perfect for cooking in the field.

  • Cooking Stations: Found in towns and cities for more serious meal preparation.

If our sheet is too hard to read, you can see the recipes here.

Cooking in the Field

Unlike other crafting professions, Provisioners can cook while adventuring. If your group sets up camp:

  1. Use a campfire as your cooking station.

  2. Combine fresh ingredients to prepare food and boost your party.

This flexibility makes you a valuable member of any group, as you can quickly create meals that prepare adventurers for harsh climates or tough battles.

Experimentation and Progression

As you cook, try new ingredient combinations to discover better meals. Higher-quality dishes provide stronger buffs, such as:

  • Improved Stamina Recovery: For longer fights.

  • Increased Resistances: Against poisons, disease, or harsh weather.

  • Higher Stat Gains: Boost core stats like Strength, Wisdom, or Dexterity.

Keep track of what works in your Crafting Journal, and don’t be afraid to experiment with rare ingredients for more powerful results.

Leveling Up as a Chef

  • Diversify your recipes: Making the same meal over and over gives less experience over time.

  • Collect rare ingredients: Special meats, herbs, and spices can unlock higher-level recipes.

  • Complete world tasks: NPCs may need crafted meals, giving you opportunities to level up and earn rewards.

Trading and Community Role

As a Chef, you’ll play an essential role in Pantheon’s player-driven economy. Here’s how:

  • Sell Meals: Players preparing for raids, cold environments, or tough dungeons will pay for high-quality food.

  • Trade Ingredients: If you lack ingredients, trade with gatherers, hunters, or fishermen.

  • Build Your Reputation: Your crafted meals will include your name in the description, helping you stand out as a skilled cook.

Advanced Tips for Chefs

  1. Stock Up on Ingredients: Always gather meat, fish, and plants when exploring. Keep them in your bank for future cooking.

  2. Prepare for Challenges: Before entering dangerous regions, cook meals to counter specific challenges. Example:

    • Cold Areas → Cook hearty, warming dishes to protect against freezing.

  3. Focus on Rare Recipes: Use rare spices or meats to make premium food that fetches higher prices.

  4. Support Your Group: Be ready to cook in the field when your team needs quick boosts before a fight.
