Ranged Skill - RuneScape Dragonwilds

Let’s clear this up right away—Ranged is in the game, but not really. The skill shows up in your menu, but it’s currently not available to actually level. That means you won’t get XP from using bows just yet. Still, you can craft and use bows to fight (even classic weapons like the Crystal Bow), and they’re super helpful early on. So while Ranged won’t level up now, you can still play like a ranger if that’s your thing.
How to Craft a Bow
To get started with ranged weapons, you’ll want to make an Ash Shortbow. It’s fast, it works, and you can get it pretty early on.
Step 1: Build a Spinning Wheel
You’ll need this before anything else.
Materials:
12x Ash Logs
4x Flax
2x Stone
Use the Build Menu (B) to place the Spinning Wheel. Just make sure it’s under a roof or it won’t work.
Step 2: Make Coarse Thread
Use Flax in your spinning wheel to make Coarse Thread. You’ll need 3 threads to make the bow.
Flax is easy to find around Temple Woods and Bramblemead Valley—look for tall blue flowers.
Step 3: Craft the Ash Shortbow
Use your Crafting Table to make the bow.
Materials:
12x Ash Logs
3x Coarse Thread
Congrats—you’ve got a working bow. Now let’s make it useful.
How to Make Arrows
Bows are great, but they won’t do much without arrows. You’ll unlock Stone Arrows early, but Fang Arrows are a nice upgrade.
Stone Arrows (33 per batch)
1x Stone
1x Ash Log
1x Feather
Fang Arrows (33 per batch)
1x Small Animal Fang
1x Ash Log
1x Feather
Feathers come from chickens in Temple Woods and Bramblemead Valley.
Small Animal Fangs drop from rats—check near the windmill in northern Temple Woods.
Final Blurb
You can’t train the Ranged skill yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start living your ranger fantasy now. Bows are fast, arrows are easy to make, and the early-game mobility makes them super handy for picking off enemies before they can close the gap. Just don’t expect to see that skill bar move. Not yet.
