Leveling up in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 isn’t hard—but doing it fast? That’s where things get fun. If you’re tired of dragging your feet through battles and just want to watch enemies explode before they know what hit them, this guide’s for you.
Here’s how to turn your party into a walking XP vacuum.
The Explosive XP Farming Trick
The secret? Turning one unlucky party member into a living bomb. With the right pictos, you can wipe out enemy mobs the second a battle starts—no effort, all reward.
Here’s the setup you want:
Auto Death
Death Bomb
Energizing Death (or any solid on-death bonus)
Stick these on someone like Gustave (he’s tough enough to handle it... once). The second a fight begins, he’ll blow up, dealing massive damage to every enemy and handing out bonus AP to the rest of your team. If anything survives? Your other party members will have max AP to clean up.
Bonus Tip: Equip Energizing Start on your other characters for even more AP at the start of battle.
Where to Find the Key Pictos
You can’t blow stuff up without the right tools, so here’s where to grab them:
Death Bomb Location
Head to Yellow Harvest (an optional area near when you meet Esquie). From the Harvester’s Hollow checkpoint, skip the obvious path and hug the right side of a rocky slope. You’ll find Death Bomb tucked away in a ruined camp.
Auto Death Location
Conveniently, Auto Death is also in Yellow Harvest. After grabbing Death Bomb, climb that slope you ignored earlier. Look for a hidden grapple point that leads to a gestral merchant. He’ll sell you Auto Death for a little over 5,000 Chroma—worth every penny.
Energizing Death Location
Push through the main story until you reach the Forgotten Battlefield. Take the right path to the Fort Ruins checkpoint. After a short climb and detour around a ledge, you’ll find Energizing Death waiting for you.
How to Use This Experience Farm
Equip your "bomb" character with Auto Death and Death Bomb.
Make sure your other party members have AP-boosting pictos.
Find areas with clustered enemy mobs (Yellow Harvest and Forgotten Battlefield are great spots).
Walk into battle, watch the fireworks, and rake in XP.
It won’t help much against bosses, but for clearing regular enemies? You’ll be flying through levels in no time.
Final Blurb
Why swing a sword when you can just blow up and call it strategy? With this setup, XP farming in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 becomes less about grinding and more about pressing "go" and watching enemies disappear. Now get out there and make Gustave proud—by turning him into your favorite grenade.
