Beginner Guide & Tips | Tower of Babel Survivors of Chaos

Tower of Babel is a mixture of wave survival and loot grinding. You drop into a run, enemies spawn from every direction, and your character starts swinging on their own.

You move, you dodge, and you try not to get boxed in.

Your goal is to survive long enough to level up, loot, and climb the tower... without getting swarmed by fifteen skeletons with axes.

How Leveling Works

As you kill monsters, they drop glowing shards. These are your XP.

Pick them up, level up, then choose one of three random upgrades.
These can be:

  • New skills

  • Stat boosts

  • Buffs to skills you already have

Some upgrades are passive. Some only trigger in certain conditions. A few are just raw damage.

You don’t get to re-roll. Pick what works and make it fit your build.

How Loot Works

Enemies drop gear as you go, but you can’t equip anything during the run.

All loot gets sent to your stash. Some of it gets eaten by a weird little goblin at the end.

You still keep the good stuff, so it’s not a full loss.

Once you’re back at camp, you can go through what you picked up.

Gear comes in rarity tiers:

  • Gray (basic)

  • Green (uncommon)

  • Blue (rare)

  • Purple (epic)

  • Orange (legendary)

Each item has stats, bonuses, and sometimes extra effects tied to your skills. You can compare gear directly and equip what fits your setup.

Also, your character’s gear changes your look in combat. It’s cosmetic, but it helps you feel like you’re making progress even when you aren’t.

Camp and Permanent Progress

At the hub, you can spend gold on permanent upgrades.

These boost your stats like:

  • Strength

  • Dexterity

  • Intelligence

Each boost is small on its own, but they stack and carry across all runs.

There’s also a merchant who sells gear, and a few locked NPCs who aren’t active yet. They’ll likely matter more as the Early Access updates roll out.

What’s In the Demo

Right now, the Early Access version gives you:

  • A few different classes

  • Dozens of skill upgrades

  • Full gear system

  • A climbable tower with wave-based floors

More classes, enemies, stages, and features are confirmed to be coming.

So far, the core loop is already satisfying. You move fast, loot fast, and either die fast or win slower.

Final Blurb & FAQ

Tower of Babel isn’t trying to reinvent the genre.

It just takes the good stuff from survivor-likes and loot games and mashes them into a fun, repeatable climb.

You’ll die often, but you’ll get stronger every time. And eventually, you’ll stop blaming the goblin for stealing your junk loot.

Yes. Whatever you equip shows up on your character in the next run.
