Doesn’t matter if you're fighting wolves, chopping bosses, or just trying not to die in brutal mode, these early builds will get you rolling fast. Let’s skip the intro and get right into it.

Build 1: Spear + Blood Rage – Creature Hunter Starter

Ideal for:

  • Alpha the White Wolf

  • Early Farbane hunting trips

Setup:

  • Use the Spear for bonus creature damage

  • Unlock Blood Rage ASAP via the Altar of Recollection

  • Equip basic Plated Boneguard gear or better

Spell Combo:

  • Blood Rage (bonus speed + healing)

  • Blood Right (block + stun escape)

Why it’s good:

This one is all about fast hits and survivability. Spear gives reach and bonus damage to beasts, while Blood Rage buffs your speed and damage. Blood Right helps you block critical hits and get out of tight spots.

Build 2: Mace + Blood School – Meaty Survival Option

Ideal for:

  • Errol the Stonebreaker

  • Mid-range tank fights

Setup:

  • Grab the Mace early for heavy swings and reach

  • Stick to Blood spells for healing and sustain

  • Aim for Merciless Boneguard gear if you can craft it

Spell Combo:

  • Blood Right

  • Blood Rage

Why it’s good:

This is a solid tank-lite build early on. Blood spells keep you alive longer while the Mace deals chunky, reliable hits from a safe distance.

Build 3: Sword + Power Surge – The Fast Bleeder

Ideal for:

  • Rufus the Foreman

  • Keely the Frost Archer

  • Any boss where speed and dodging matters

Setup:

  • Copper Sword or Miner’s Mace if you’ve got it

  • Focus on Rogue blood if available

  • Light armor with any movement bonuses

Spell Combo:

  • Power Surge (removes slows, boosts speed)

  • Blood Rage (stacks perfectly with speed-based builds)

Why it’s good:

This build is about getting in, hitting fast, and never standing still. Sword swings are fast, Power Surge gives you momentum, and the Rogue blood’s crit bonuses make it feel like a blender. Best used for aggressive playstyles.

Alternative Setup: Cold Snap + AoE Combo

Great for:

  • Dealing with mobs or minion-heavy bosses

  • Players who like some ranged control

Gear:

  • Sword or Crossbow

  • Any armor with resist or speed boosts

Spell Combo:

  • Cold Snap for freezes

  • Pair with Whirlwind or Power Surge

Why it’s good:

If you’re getting overwhelmed, Cold Snap slows things down so you can manage fights better. Great in solo situations or when clearing camps.

Early Game Tips for Building and Survival

  • Build 2+ sawmills early—planks will bottleneck you fast

  • Use the Blood Press to convert rats into essence

  • Farm rats using the Vermin Nest for healing salves

  • Reset your spells often—don’t be afraid to tweak builds

  • Merchants have useful gear and recipes, but don’t smack them

  • Rogue blood types are great early—bonus crit and speed are a win

  • Swords are solid for AoE and boss kiting if you keep moving

Final Blurb

Early-game V Rising revolves quite a bit around stacking attack speed, learning when to block, and pairing the right spell with the right target. You’ll do fine if you stick to reliable combos, keep your gear sharp, and move fast. There’s no “perfect” setup—just the one that keeps you alive. Try them all. Reset often. Get weird with it.
