If you want to make weapons, armor, and tools that don’t fall apart after one hit, the Blacksmith Life is where to start.

You’ll unlock it early in the game and it plays a big role in crafting gear for yourself and your Buddies.

This guide covers how Blacksmithing works, how to rank up, and where it fits into the bigger crafting loop.

Getting Started with Blacksmithing

How to unlock the Blacksmith Life

After your visit to the Guild Office in the early part of the story, you’ll be able to pick your first Life. Choose Blacksmith if you want to dive into hammering gear at anvils right away.

If you skipped it at first, don’t worry... you can switch Lives any time after unlocking the Guild Office.

What you actually do

Blacksmiths use Hammers at forges to craft weapons, armor, and mining tools. The gameplay loop is simple. Get ore (mostly by being a Miner), smelt ingots, then use those to forge your gear.

Timing, positioning, and a good hammer all matter if you want to land an EXCELLENT and get better quality items.

You’ll also take on Blacksmith Life challenges to earn Stars and rank up, unlocking better recipes and rewards.

Tips for Crafting Better Gear

Mine your own materials

Don’t rely on shops. If you want a steady supply of ingots, take up the Miner Life and gather the ore yourself. The two Lives pair perfectly.

Focus on EXCELLENT strikes

Each recipe gives you three areas to hammer. Use your charge skill on weak points and time your strikes carefully. The better the quality, the better the gear stats and rewards.

Upgrade your hammer

Seriously... don’t use the starter hammer forever. Higher-tier hammers give more power and speed, which helps you hit harder and land more EXCELLENTs.

Don’t skip Life quests

Life quests help unlock better recipes, higher Star Ranks, and special items. If you want to become a master Blacksmith, doing the quests is the only way forward.

Why Choose the Blacksmith Life?

If you like self-sufficiency, this Life is solid. You can make your own gear, sell extra stuff for Dosh, and help your Buddies get stronger too.

It’s a crafting Life, so you won’t be fighting much, but you’ll still play a key role in your own adventure.

Final Blurb & FAQ

Blacksmiths in Fantasy Life i are the backbone of gear crafting. If you want to take your combat Lives seriously, you’ll need a Blacksmith at some point.

Just don’t forget to grab a better hammer and swing with purpose... the anvil doesn’t wait for slackers.
