Can You Spare the Roaring Knight in Deltarune?

Written by Aarav Agarwal

If you’re looking to see if you can spare the Roaring Knight, the answer is no you cannot spare the him in Deltarune Chapter 3. The fight is somewhat scripted, and the only way to finish it is through damage. There is no ACT, no mercy, and no pacifist outcome.

Despite what you might expect, sparing isn't even an option. You can’t talk them down or show mercy. The fight ends only when Susie lands the final hit after a set amount of damage is done.

What Actually Happens in the Roaring Knight Fight

You run into the Roaring Knight at the end of Chapter 3, right after the Tenna boss battle and the cutscene tied to the TV broadcast.

There’s no spare mechanic at any point in this fight. It plays out like a traditional Undertale-style boss, but without the yellow spare text or ACT options popping up. Instead, you're locked into fighting.

Why Some Players Think You Can Spare Them

It’s a fair guess, especially if you’ve been trying to avoid violence all game. The Knight has long, ominous pauses during the fight, and Susie runs out of dialogue after a while, which might seem like a trigger point for a pacifist route.

But that’s not how it works.

You have to damage them down to a certain point. Once they hit around 20% HP, they unleash one last huge attack. After surviving it, one final hit from Susie ends the battle.

Does Attacking Really Matter?

Yes, it sure does.

While it might feel like you're just going through the motions, dealing damage is required to push the fight forward. Rude Buster is the most effective move. You’ll likely need around 15 of them for the fight to end.

Trying to spare them, or waiting out the fight, won’t work. No secret dialogue unlocks if you stall, and there’s no alternate path... no matter how determined you are.

Final Blurb

This fight is more about survival than anything. The Roaring Knight can’t be spared in Chapter 3, no matter how patient or clever you are. You’ll need to hit hard, survive long, and make sure Susie finishes the job.

Just don’t expect any yellow text to show up when it’s over.
