Deltarune Annoying Dog Race Guide (Chapter 4 Dog Room)
Written by Aarav Agarwal
The Annoying Dog race is a hidden scene in Deltarune Chapter 4, tucked away near the end of the sanctuary area. It’s one of those completely optional moments that doesn’t impact the story, but still rewards your curiosity with a visual gag, a rigged race, and a mysterious DogDollar.
Where to Find the Dog Room
To reach the dog race, you need to use the green flame portal near the third sanctuary.
Interact with the green flame and choose “Return to Gerson’s Study”
Once there, go upstairs
Go into the second door from the left
There’s no enemy or puzzle, but rather a dark room with two pillars… And a dog.
How the Dog Race Works
The scene starts automatically after a small delay once you enter the room.
The Annoying Dog lines up to race
Both stand at the base of the pillars, and the moment the race begins, you climb as fast as you can trying to beat the dog
As you get closer to the top the dog’s pillar falls away… And then the Annoying Dog reappears on stilts and bolts up your pillar faster than you can react. It’s completely scripted, and there’s no way to win.
What's at the Top
Even though the dog always beats you, you still reach the top after the cutscene ends.
At the top is a red chest, and inside of it you’ll find 1 DogDollar
It’s unclear if the DogDollar does anything (as of now), but knowing Toby Fox, it might show up later in a way that makes zero sense until it suddenly does.
Final Blurb
The Chapter 4 dog race is pure Deltarune nonsense… Unexpected, unwinnable, and kind of great. All it takes is a trip back to Gerson’s Study and a short walk upstairs.
The Annoying Dog wins no matter what, but you still walk away with a DogDollar (super valuable..), so who’s really losing?
