Dinkum: Fly Guide

If you’ve ever wanted to chase something utterly useless around your island, meet the Fly. It’s everywhere, it’s easy to catch, and it sells for... well, not much.
Where to Find the Fly
Location: Everywhere
Time: Morning and Day
Season: Any season
If you're outside during daylight hours, odds are a Fly is buzzing around nearby. No special biomes, no rare spawn rates — it’s as common as dirt.
How to Catch a Fly
Tool Needed: Bug Net or Comp Bug Net
You’ll get your first net from Fletch after placing your tent. If you need a replacement (because you will break it), head over to John’s Goods.
Sneak up, swing your net, and congratulations—you’ve caught a bug worth less than a loaf of bread.
What to Do With a Fly
Once you’ve got a pocket full of buzzing friends, here’s how to make them slightly useful:
Donate: Hand over one to the Museum. Just one. Please, no more.
Sell to John: Earn a whopping 72 Dinks.
Sell to Ted Selly: He’ll pay double.
Sell to Julia: On the 15th of Spring and Autumn, Julia visits for the Bug Catching Comp and pays 2.5x value.
Display: Toss it in a Bug Tank if you enjoy decorating with pests.
Gift: Some NPCs might actually want one.
Release: If you feel bad, just drop it and set it free.
Best Time to Catch
Here’s when you can roam around swatting flies:
Summer: 7 AM - 9 PM
Autumn: 7 AM - 7 PM
Winter: 7 AM - 6 PM
Spring: 7 AM - 8 PM
Basically, if the sun’s up, you’re good to go.
Final Blurb
Catching Flies in Dinkum isn’t going to make you rich, famous, or particularly proud—but hey, it fills up the Museum and clears your island of some buzzing annoyances. If you’re really desperate for cash, save them for Ted or Julia. Otherwise, think of it as free cardio with a net.
