How All Team-Ups Work in Marvel Rivals: A Simple Guide
Team-Ups in Marvel Rivals provide unique abilities when certain heroes are on the same team. These abilities can really help you out, but only when used wisely. Here’s a guide to every Team-Up ability, how they work, and when it’s worth picking them.
How Team-Ups Work
Team-Up Holders vs. Users:
Holders enable the Team-Up ability.
Users are the ones who can activate and benefit from the ability.
Example: Hulk (Holder) enables Wolverine (User) to activate Fastball Special.
Seasonal Buffs:
Even if a Team-Up isn’t active, the Holder gets a bonus just by being picked.
These buffs vary by hero (e.g., extra damage or health). Check the Hero Menu to see specific bonuses.
Be Smart
Not all Team-Ups are worth forcing. Decide whether the pairing fits your team composition and playstyle.
Note: Check your control settings to see which buttons to press to activate certain Team-Ups as it can vary, and depending on the team-up, the person(s) required to activate will be different. See a list below.
Team-Up Abilities
1. Ragnarok Rebirth
Heroes: Hela (Holder) + Thor/Loki (Users)
Effect: Thor and Loki revive instantly at their death location with 80-90% health. If alive when Hela gets a kill, they gain bonus health.
When to Pick:
Great if you already have Hela on your team.
Revives make this a strong choice for sustained fights.
Avoid forcing if Thor or Loki doesn’t fit your team comp.
2. Metallic Chaos
Heroes: Scarlet Witch (Holder) + Magneto (User)
Effect: Magneto gets Magnetic Fusion, summoning a sword that deals high melee and ranged damage.
When to Pick:
Strong if you already have Scarlet Witch on your team.
Magneto benefits from this for added damage, but it’s not a must-pick if your team needs other roles.
3. Volcanic Union
Heroes: Thor (Holder) + Storm/Captain America (Users)
Effect:
Storm: Lightning bolts deal damage and bounce between enemies.
Captain America: Shield throws deal more damage and grant a speed boost.
When to Pick:
Only useful if you already have Thor and a specific need for Storm or Cap.
Not worth forcing given their current weaker meta standing.
4. Planet X Pals
Heroes: Groot (Holder) + Jeff/Rocket (Users)
Effect: Jeff or Rocket ride Groot’s shoulders, gaining 35% damage reduction and consistent healing.
When to Pick:
Strong for defensive playstyles.
Avoid if your team doesn’t benefit from Groot’s tanky, defensive role.
5. Symbiote Bond
Heroes: Venom (Holder) + Spider-Man/Peni Parker (Users)
Effect: Users unleash gooey spikes for AoE damage and knockback, gaining 50% damage reduction during the ability.
When to Pick:
Excellent for Spider-Man, as the damage and knockback synergize with his dive combos.
Peni Parker benefits less, so only pick if it fits your team’s needs.
6. Gamma Charge
Heroes: Hulk (Holder) + Doctor Strange/Iron Man (Users)
Effect:
Doctor Strange: Area ability gains range, damage, and removes debuffs.
Iron Man: Damage increase during Armor Overdrive.
When to Pick:
Hulk + Strange is a strong pairing for tanks and AoE.
Iron Man’s upgrade is minor, so only pick if it fits your comp.
7. Ammo Reload
Heroes: Rocket (Holder) + Punisher/Winter Soldier (Users)
Effect: Rocket places a device granting users infinite ammo and a massive fire rate boost.
When to Pick:
Almost always worth it for Punisher, as it turns his primary fire into an unstoppable force.
Winter Soldier benefits too but less dramatically.
8. Dimensional Shortcut
Heroes: Magik (Holder) + Black Panther/Psylocke (Users)
Effect: Users rewind to their position from 5 seconds ago, regaining some health as bonus health.
When to Pick:
Useful for dive comps, but Magik isn’t the strongest engager.
Only worth it if Black Panther or Psylocke fits your team.
9. Lunar Force
Heroes: Cloak & Dagger (Holder) + Moon Knight (User)
Effect: Moon Knight places an invisibility field, staying hidden unless hit.
When to Pick:
Strong in the right hands but very situational.
Avoid forcing unless both heroes already fit your comp.
10. Guardian Revival
Heroes: Adam Warlock (Holder) + Mantis/Star-Lord (Users)
Effect: Users respawn as ghosts and choose where to revive within a few seconds.
When to Pick:
Great for Mantis as a support.
Star-Lord is less useful in most scenarios.
11. Chilling Charisma
Heroes: Luna Snow (Holder) + Namor/Jeff (Users)
Effect:
Namor: Turrets gain health, deal more damage, and slow enemies.
Jeff: Spit bolts deal more damage and slow enemies.
When to Pick:
Luna is meta, so Namor or Jeff may fit. Only worth it if they already fit your strategy.
12. Allied Agents
Heroes: Hawkeye (Holder) + Black Widow (User)
Effect: Black Widow gets a version of Hawkeye’s Ultimate that creates easy-to-hit afterimages of enemies.
When to Pick:
Helpful for Black Widow but requires both heroes, which can limit your team comp.
13. Atlas Bond
Heroes: Iron Fist (Holder) + Luna Snow (User)
Effect: Luna Snow knocks back and slows enemies with a Frozen Chi ring.
When to Pick:
Situationally useful for dive-heavy enemies. Not worth forcing unless Iron Fist fits your comp.
14. ASU Alumnus
Heroes: Spider-Man (Holder) + Squirrel Girl (User)
Effect: Squirrel Girl throws webbed acorns that snare and deal damage.
When to Pick:
Makes Squirrel Girl more viable, but Spider-Man shouldn’t be forced just for this.
15. Fastball Special
Heroes: Hulk (Holder) + Wolverine (User)
Effect: Hulk throws Wolverine into enemies, increasing his attack speed for a short time.
When to Pick:
Fun but not that great. Wolverine struggles in most situations right now.
Final Blurb
Team-Ups in Marvel Rivals are powerful tools but should only be used if they naturally fit your strategy. Build your team around strong synergies rather than forcing pairings, and you’ll maximize your chances of success!time!
