To finish the Elemental Reverse upgrade challenge, you’ll need to defeat an Icicon and a Lavacon by turning their own elemental projectiles against each other. It’s not hard, but the game doesn’t exactly spell out the timing or setup.
Here's how to pull it off.
Get the Reflect-O-Matic First
You can’t do this challenge without the Reflect-O-Matic Hand Gel.
If you haven’t unlocked it yet, head back to Upgrade-O-Rama and make sure it’s equipped. This lets you reflect projectiles by pressing Q (or whatever your Deflect key is) right before impact.
Where to Find Lavacons and Icicons
Go to Zenithian Rift, the snowy biome near the top of the world map.
Lavacons look like molten rock monsters and spit out fireballs.
Icicons are big icy creatures that hurl freezing chunks at you.
You’ll often find them near each other, usually around geothermal vents.
If they’re not in the same area, lure one toward the other—yes, it’s annoying, but it works.
How to Do the Elemental Reverse Kill
Step 1: Get Between the Two
Position yourself where both enemies can see you. They’ll each start firing at you from range. Don’t kill either one yet.
Step 2: Reflect the Projectile
Wait for a Lavacon to launch a fireball.
Right before it hits, press Q to reflect it.
Aim it back at the Icicon to damage it.
Then flip it:
Wait for the Icicon to throw its icy chunk.
Reflect that back into the Lavacon.
Step 3: Land the Killing Blow
You need to kill each one with the other’s projectile. Doing damage is not enough. Let them get low first with your weapons if needed, then finish them off with the reflected shot.
Don’t worry, they don’t heal, so you can take your time.
