How to Fix Multiplayer Not Working in RoadCraft

If you’re stuck watching RoadCraft try and fail to load into multiplayer then we hope one of these solutions work. From endless "Loading..." screens to sudden crashes, co-op has been rough for a lot of players.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s going wrong... and how to possibly fix it.
Basic Multiplayer Fixes to Try First
Restart the Game and Your PC
Sometimes the simple stuff really does work. Fully close out RoadCraft, restart your system, and launch it again. It’s helped some players get past connection stalls.
Make Sure Both Players Have a Save File
If you’re trying to host or join without having a save file or company set up, the game might just hang. Both players need to have launched the game and created a company before trying to connect.
Use the Join Code System
Start a session in single-player, then hit Escape, go to Multiplayer, and generate a Join Code. Send that code to your friend to connect directly. This has been more reliable than using the friends list or invite button.
Game Won’t Load or Crashes on Startup?
If RoadCraft crashes before multiplayer even becomes an option, the problem might be bigger than just co-op. These common issues are messing things up for lots of players:
Move It to an SSD
If RoadCraft is installed on a hard drive, reinstall it on an SSD instead. The game expects fast load speeds, and a slow drive can cause freezing, crashing, or broken loading screens.
Turn Off Steam and Discord Overlays
Overlays love to break games. Disable both Steam’s and Discord’s overlays from their settings menus. Also close any background apps you don’t need running.
Run the Game from Its .EXE File
Instead of launching from Steam, try right-clicking the RoadCraft .exe file in your install folder and selecting Run as Administrator.
Update Drivers and Windows
Check your graphics card drivers and make sure they’re up to date. Same goes for Windows updates. Old software is a top reason games crash or fail to load.
Disable Steam Input
Right-click RoadCraft in your Steam Library, select Properties, go to the Controller tab, and set Override for RoadCraft to "Disable Steam Input."
Try Hosting with a Wired Connection
If you're trying to host a game on Wi-Fi and getting stuck in the loading screen, try switching to Ethernet if possible. It’s not always the fix, but it improves your odds of stable hosting.
Extra Fixes for PC-Specific Bugs
If you're using Proton or Wine on Linux/Steam Deck, expect more bugs. Many players report crashes right after the splash screen.
13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs might also cause problems. Updating your BIOS could help, especially if you’ve ruled everything else out.
For sound bugs after loading, try unplugging and replugging your headset or restarting audio services through Windows.
Final Blurb & FAQ
Multiplayer in RoadCraft is fun... when it works. Most of the time, it’s just one setting or weird system hang holding you back. If it keeps crashing, try reinstalling on an SSD, double-checking your drivers, or using Join Codes instead of invites.
Patience helps. But a working LAN cable helps more.
