How to Upgrade Vehicles in RoadCraft

If your rusty old dump truck is struggling to haul sand up a mild slope, it’s probably time to upgrade. In RoadCraft, vehicle upgrades are pretty much required once you get into heavier zones with tougher terrain and bigger jobs.
Here’s how to unlock, buy, and use upgraded vehicles to actually get things done.
Where to Buy Upgrades
Use the Garage Shop Tab
Every base has a garage marked in blue. Head to any one of them, then switch to the Shop tab at the top of the screen.
You can toggle between Garage and Shop with Q and E on keyboard, or LB/RB on controller. From there, scroll through the list of vehicles to see what’s available.
Upgraded vehicles will show boosted stats, extra tools, or just better all-around performance. If the one you want is grayed out, check your Star count... some models need more Stars before you can unlock them.
You Can Also Use the Vehicle Menu
You can open the same shop menu through your vehicle selection screen. Just hit the "Shop" button while viewing your vehicle list.
This lets you upgrade even if you’re far from base, as long as you're not mid-mission.
How Vehicle Upgrades Work
What You Get from an Upgrade
Most upgraded vehicles offer:
Better engine power for steeper climbs or bigger loads
More stability on rough or uneven roads
Built-in tools like cranes, winches, and better tires
Higher top speed for faster travel between sites
It’s not just about convenience... you’ll need this gear to complete advanced missions without rage-quitting.
They Stay Unlocked Across All Maps
Once you buy a vehicle, it sticks with you across the whole campaign.
You don’t have to rebuy it on each map. That means you can invest early and use it for every job going forward.
They Work in Co-Op Too
If you’re playing multiplayer, upgraded vehicles show up in the shared garage.
This means your friends can help out using your upgraded tools, even if they haven’t unlocked those vehicles themselves yet.
Selling Old Vehicles
Optional, But Handy if You’re Broke
You can sell any non-Rusty vehicle you’ve bought. It won’t sell for the full price, but it’s useful if you’re short on funds and need something new.
Rusty vehicles stay in your garage no matter what, so you’ll always have backup trucks in a pinch.
Some players keep a few extras stationed at different job sites for easy deployment.
Final Blurb & FAQ
Upgrading your vehicles in RoadCraft is the only real way to stop struggling through every hill, pit, and hauling job.
The sooner you start grabbing stronger trucks, the faster you'll stop asking, “Why is this taking so long?”
Check your Shop tab every time you get paid... your future self will thank you.
