How to Fix No Sound in R.E.P.O.

Nothing ruins the horror vibes in R.E.P.O. faster than complete silence—except maybe a gnome sneaking up on you with zero warning. If you’re experiencing no audio, don’t worry. Here’s how to get sound back without summoning dark forces.

1. Check Your Output Device

First, make sure R.E.P.O. isn’t sending sound to a speaker you don’t even use:

  • Right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar and select Sound settings.

  • Under Choose where to play sound, pick your actual speakers or headphones (not "Default").

  • Scroll down to App volume and device preferences and make sure R.E.P.O. is set to the right output.

2. Check In-Game Volume

Yes, it sounds obvious, but R.E.P.O. might have muted itself just to mess with you:

  • Open the game’s Settings > Audio and turn up all volume sliders.

  • Restart the game and see if the sound returns.

3. Use the Windows Volume Mixer

Sometimes Windows decides that your game should be played in absolute silence:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar and select Open Volume Mixer.

  • Find R.E.P.O. and set the volume to 100%.

4. Disable Spatial Sound (Windows Sonic / Dolby Atmos)

If you have Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, or any virtual surround sound enabled, it might be messing things up:

  • Right-click the speaker icon, hover over Spatial Sound, and set it to Off.

5. Restart the Game & Your PC

If all else fails, the classic turn-it-off-and-on-again trick might work:

  • Close R.E.P.O. and restart your computer.

  • Open the game again and test the sound.

6. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

Your drivers might be outdated, and R.E.P.O. doesn’t appreciate that.

  • Right-click Start > Device Manager > Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.

  • Right-click your audio device, select Update driver, then choose Search automatically for updated drivers.

  • If that doesn’t work, visit your PC manufacturer’s website to download and install the latest audio driver manually.

7. Verify Game Files (Steam Users)

If nothing has worked, maybe R.E.P.O. is missing important audio files:

  • Open Steam, go to Library, and right-click R.E.P.O.

  • Click Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.

  • Wait for the process to complete, then restart the game.

Final Blurb

One of these steps should fix your sound, unless your PC has decided to gaslight you into thinking R.E.P.O. is a silent horror experience. If you’re still stuck in total silence, you might have to sacrifice a gnome to the audio gods—or just reinstall the game.
