How to Get S-Rank in Deltarune

How to Get S-Rank in Deltarune Chapter 3

Written by Aarav Agarwal

If you're trying to unlock the secret boss in Chapter 3, you’ll need an S-Rank in both main rounds of Tenna’s game show. It’s much more than winning, and requires being nearly perfect.

Here’s exactly how to hit S-Rank, what affects it, and what to do if you fall short.

What Affects Your Rank in Deltarune

Battle Performance

Each round has three battles. These score you based on:

  • How little damage you take

  • How fast you win

  • How high your TP stays

If you’re getting hit a lot, defend more and use food instead of healing spells. Try to keep your TP high through the fight and wrap up battles quickly. Getting an A here won’t kill your run, but every point helps.

Outside-of-Battle Points

Points from the overworld also boost your rank. This includes:

  • Solving quiz questions

  • Finding hidden coins

  • Pulling weeds with Susie once you unlock the ability

You can find up to 1,700 points in just the first round if you fully explore and answer correctly. That extra effort can make up for weaker battles or a slip-up in the minigame.

Minigame Score

At the end of each round, you’ll do a timed minigame.

To get S-Rank, you need a high score, usually around 500 points or more in the first one. The mechanics vary, but all of them demand quick reflexes and smart movement.

You can’t practice ahead of time, so pay attention to the instructions and take it seriously.

What If You Miss S-Rank?

If your final score isn’t high enough, you can buy an S-Rank for 1,500 points.

Go south of the Green Room, exit through the center between the two TVs, then follow the path with the golden Tenna statue. A hidden merchant there lets you exchange your points for an S-Rank.

Make sure you save up, or you’ll miss your chance.

Why Try to Get S-Rank?

Getting S-Rank unlocks the locked door in the top-left of the Green Room.

That’s where the real stuff starts. It opens a bonus game where Kris plays solo, and it’s the first step toward unlocking the secret boss in Chapter 3.

You’ll do this once per round, gathering special items that build up to the final unlock.

Final Blurb

If you want to fight Chapter 3’s secret boss, getting S-Rank is step one. It takes clean battles, maxed-out points, and solid minigame runs. And if you mess up... well, that’s what the merchant is for.
