How to Join a Grand Company in Final Fantasy XIV

Joining a Grand Company in Final Fantasy XIV is an important step in your journey. You’ll need to join one to unlock many features like your chocobo, company seals, and more. Here’s how you can join one.
1. Play Through the Main Story Quest (MSQ)
You can’t join a Grand Company right away. Keep doing the MSQ until you reach a quest called “A Hero in the Making.” This happens around Level 20.
2. Meet the Leaders of the Grand Companies
In “A Hero in the Making,” you’ll visit each of the three Grand Companies:
Maelstrom in Limsa Lominsa
Order of the Twin Adder in Gridania
Immortal Flames in Ul’dah
You’ll attend a meeting where each leader talks about their Grand Company and why you should join them.
3. Choose Your Grand Company
After the meeting, you’ll be asked to pick one of the three Grand Companies:
Maelstrom: Based in Limsa Lominsa, they focus on naval strength.
Order of the Twin Adder: Based in Gridania, they focus on nature and balance.
Immortal Flames: Based in Ul’dah, they focus on trade and military power.
Choose the one you like best, but don’t worry too much—your choice won’t affect the main story.
4. Officially Join the Grand Company
Once you pick your Grand Company, talk to their leader. You’ll officially join, and they’ll give you a Grand Company rank and uniform.
5. Start Earning Company Seals
Now that you’re part of a Grand Company, you can take on special tasks to earn Company Seals. These are used to buy gear, your chocobo, and other items. Here’s how to get seals:
Complete FATEs while wearing your Grand Company uniform.
Do Supply and Provision Missions.
Turn in gear through Expert Delivery.
Bonus: Switching Grand Companies
If you ever want to change your Grand Company, you fortunately can. You’ll need to talk to the Grand Company you want to join and pay a small fee. However, this won’t happen until much later in the game.
