Hunting monsters is fun. Hunting monsters with friends is even better. Monster Hunter Wilds gives you a few different ways to team up, but the system can be a bit confusing at first. Here’s a simple breakdown of how to join the same lobby and play together without getting lost in menus.
1. Join a Link Party (Best for Quests)
If you just want to run quests together, a Link Party is the easiest way. You don’t even have to be in the same lobby.
How to Create or Join a Link Party
Open the menu and go to the Communication tab (speech bubble icon).
Select Link Party.
To invite friends: Choose Invite to Link Party and select them (search by Hunter ID if needed).
To accept an invite: Select Invitation List and accept.
Once a quest is posted, it will automatically show up for all party members to join.
Link Party Benefits
Voice and text chat are included.
You stay in the party between hunts.
You can still be in separate lobbies but join the same quests.
Downside: You won’t actually see each other outside of quests. If you want to roam the world together, you need Environment Link.
2. Use Environment Link (Best for Exploring Together)
If you want to see your friends in the world (not just in quests), you need to enable Environment Link.
How to Enable Environment Link
First, create a Link Party (see steps above).
Open the menu and go to Communication > Link Party.
Select Invite All to Environment Link.
Now, you and your friends share the same world and can explore together.
Things to Keep in Mind
If you don’t see the Invite All to Environment Link option, you might be in a story-locked area. Keep playing until things open up.
You cannot post quests while in Environment Link. To hunt, you’ll need to leave and use Link Party instead.
3. Join Random Players with SOS Flares
If your friends aren’t online (or you just need help fast), you can join other players’ hunts by answering an SOS Flare.
How to Join an SOS Flare
Enter your tent during a hunt.
Go to Quest Menu > Post/Join Quest.
Select SOS Flare Quests.
Choose a hunt and join the action.
Perfect for when you need backup but don’t want to commit to a full lobby.
Which Option Should You Use?
For running quests together: Link Party
For exploring the world together: Environment Link
For jumping into a quick hunt with randoms: SOS Flare
Now, you know how to team up without getting lost in menus. Go grab some friends and start hunting.
