Rough Cloth is one of those materials you’ll need more often than you think. It’s used in Wizard Robes, and more importantly, in the upgrade path toward Padded Cloth, which unlocks higher-tier armor.
Here’s how to get and make Rough Cloth in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

Rough Cloth Recipe
To make Rough Cloth, you’ll need:
3 Coarse Thread
A Loom
Insert the thread into the loom, and you’ll get one piece of Rough Cloth in return.
How to Make Coarse Thread
Coarse Thread can be made two different ways using a Spinning Wheel:
1 Flax = 1 Coarse Thread
3 Coarse Animal Fur (from Kebbits) = 1 Coarse Thread
Flax grows all over Bramblemead Valley, while Kebbits can be hunted in the wilds.
How to Build a Loom
You’ll need a Loom to turn Coarse Thread into Rough Cloth.
Loom recipe:
22 Ash Planks (made from Ash Logs using a Sawmill)
4 Bronze Bars (crafted at a Furnace using Copper and Tin Ore)
6 Wool Thread (made from fleece or soft animal fur using a Spinning Wheel)
Once built, place the Loom at your base, and you’re ready to start processing thread into cloth.
What Rough Cloth is Used For
Right now, Rough Cloth is used to make:
Wizard Robes (when combined with Wild Anima)
Padded Cloth (when paired with Wool Cloth in an Upgraded Loom)
If you plan to wear magic armor or craft advanced gear like Studded Leather or Iron Plate, you’ll need a lot of Rough Cloth.
Final Blurb
Rough Cloth might not sound like much, but it’s the foundation of every good armor upgrade past the early game. If you’re skipping it, you’re probably skipping protection (and in Dragonwilds that’s a quick way to find out how strong goblins really can be). Craft it early, stock it often, and always keep some coarse thread handy.
