In Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, managing your treasury effectively can make all the difference in your quest to expand Avalon’s empire and defeat the Seven Heroes. Here’s a simple guide to help you increase your kingdom's wealth and put it to good use:

1. Your Empire's Treasury: The Heart of Avalon’s Wealth

  • As emperor your income comes from Avalon’s treasury which you can view in Avalon Castle. Income grows after each battle, funded by taxes collected from conquered regions.

  • Your empire’s total income increases whenever new regions join the empire, thanks to the added tax revenue.

2. Using Battles for Income

  • Income is calculated and added to your treasury after each battle. You could theoretically earn money by fleeing from battles repeatedly; however, doing so will increase your “battle counter” and make enemies stronger. It’s a risky strategy, so use it sparingly.

3. Exploring for Treasure

  • Seek out treasure chests throughout the game world; they often contain substantial sums (100,000 crowns or more) and can provide an instant cash boost for your treasury.

4. Building Key Facilities in Avalon

  • Expanding Avalon by building facilities is essential for empire growth and income management. Here are the key buildings and what they offer:

    • Magic Research Facility: Allows your characters to learn spells. You’ll need to meet certain conditions: at least 1 million crowns in the treasury, 25 MP, and progress to Gerard’s golden armor story arc. Magic is a crucial asset, so build this as soon as possible.

    • Avalon University: Costs 2 million crowns and unlocks the powerful Strategist class, known for high speed and magic stats, along with the character Kong Ming, one of the best spellcasters.

    • Hero’s Quarter: Once you control the regions of Yuuyan, Cameroon, and Zara, you can build this for 3-5 million crowns. It provides quick access to some of the game’s strongest character classes.

    • Orchard (Remastered Version only): An outdoor facility that increases income after each battle. Build it early and upgrade it periodically for steady revenue.

5. Researching Weapons and Armor

  • Investing in the blacksmith for weapons and armor research is one way to strengthen your team. Researching costs money and completes after 15 battles, with weapons and armor offered randomly within tiers.

  • You’ll get a free item after research, and additional copies can be bought from Avalon’s shop for free. Keep an eye on the blacksmith periodically, as this equipment can be among the best available for much of the game.

6. Buying Equipment When Needed

  • In Avalon-controlled towns items are free. In foreign regions, you’ll have to pay for goods. Spending on equipment is most useful in the early stages; in later game stages, dungeons and blacksmith upgrades often provide better gear.

  • Remember that consumables like MP and SP-restoring items can’t be purchased. Instead, find them in chests, or restock in Avalon’s storage room with each new generation.

Summary

To maximize wealth in Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven Heroes:

  • Regularly fight battles to build up your income.

  • Expand your empire strategically, building facilities that add long-term benefits.

  • Seek treasure in dungeons and prioritize free upgrades from the blacksmith.

  • Invest wisely, especially in Avalon’s magic and income-generating facilities.

  • With careful spending and a focus on growth, you’ll have a thriving empire ready to face the Seven Heroes.
