How to Use Elevators in Cubic Odyssey

Yes, elevators exist in Cubic Odyssey, and yes, they mostly work. But before you slap one into your base expecting a smooth ride to the top, there are a few things you should know.

These things don’t come with brakes, steering, or a reverse button.

Here’s how to use them, what not to do, and how to deal with the inevitable bugs that come along for the ride.

How Elevators Work (When They Do)

Elevators in Cubic Odyssey are blocks you can place in your base or mine shafts. Once you step on one, it will slowly start moving upward... until it hits something solid.

If it hits a ceiling, it’ll stop.

If there’s no ceiling, it’ll keep going into the sky.

If you accidentally block its path, it might clip you through the world.

There’s no up or down switch. It only goes one way: up until it no longer can.

Tips to Use Elevators Without Losing Them to the Sky

  • Always place a ceiling above the elevator where you want it to stop. Doesn’t matter what kind of block, as long as it’s solid.

  • If it flies past your base, well... that’s your fault. Hope you brought a jetpack.

  • Want to stop it at a certain floor? Manually place a block above the spot. That’s your only way to control the “floor” it stops at.

  • If you're using one in a mineshaft, replace dirt ceilings with stone. Some players say dirt can cause glitchy clipping.

How to Use It in a Base

  1. Build your shaft or elevator area.

  2. Place the elevator block on the floor.

  3. Add a ceiling block above wherever you want the elevator to stop.

  4. Stand on it. Wait.

  5. Jump off at the top like you’re getting off a slow-moving ride at an amusement park.

If it starts bouncing or clipping, try adding or replacing blocks around it. Some block types seem to behave better than others.

Can You Ride It Down?

Nope. The elevator doesn’t go back down. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Unless you place another one; or follow it into orbit with a jetpack.

Can You Destroy or Pick It Up?

Currently, no. You can’t remove it once it’s placed.

We’ve have tried extractors and tools, but nothing works. This has already been reported as a bug by a lot of players.

Your only options are:

  • Bury it under other blocks

  • Hide it with walls or a ceiling

  • Build somewhere else and pretend that one never happened

Final Blurb

Elevators in Cubic Odyssey are a fun idea with janky execution. Use them with a bit of planning and a lot of ceiling tiles.

If you’re looking for a clean way to move vertically, maybe keep that jetpack close... or pray for ladders in the next patch.

FAQ

Q: How do I use the elevator in Cubic Odyssey?

Step on it. It goes up until it hits a ceiling block. You can’t control the direction or speed.

Q: Can I choose where the elevator stops?

Not directly. It only stops when it hits a solid block above it.

Q: How do I remove or destroy an elevator?

You can’t. There’s no way to deconstruct one yet. You’ll need to build around or bury it.

Q: Can the elevator go down?

No. It’s one-way. Once it rises, it won’t come back unless you build another.

Q: Why did my elevator go into the sky and never stop?

You didn’t put a ceiling block above it. Always place a solid block at the height you want it to stop.
