To destroy and clear Red Darkness in Cubic Odyssey, you need to use the Darkness Cleaner weapon. Hold right-click while aiming at the base of the spawner, and if you have a Light Shard in your inventory, it will trigger a Light Strike to cleanse it.

You can't just shoot the spawner. You can't just kill the enemies around it either.

Here's how it actually works, and what to expect when trying to purify these corruption zones.

Step 1: Craft the Darkness Cleaner

You’ll need more than a few scraps

Before anything else, you need to actually craft the Darkness Cleaner. You’ll unlock the recipe by progressing through the main story (after activating your first Light Temple).

Crafting the weapon requires a bunch of mid-game materials:

  • Quartz

  • Tin

  • Gold

  • Silicon

  • Logic boards

If you don’t have the materials, you’re going to need to mine, trade, or loot until you do.

Step 2: Equip a Light Shard

No shard = no cleanse

The Darkness Cleaner won’t work unless you have a Light Shard in your inventory.

You don't need to hold it, just have it on you. You can craft Light Shards after progressing a bit into the story, or sometimes find them in temple-related areas.

Once you’re equipped, head to the Red Darkness zone.

Step 3: Find the Spawner

Aim low

When you see a glowing, corrupted spawner, aim the Darkness Cleaner directly at the base block underneath it.

Hold right-click. After a short charge, a beam will fire down, cleanse the corruption, and destroy the spawner.

If it doesn’t work:

  • You probably don’t have a Light Shard

  • You might be aiming in the wrong place

  • You might be under attack, which interrupts the process

Step 4: Handle What Comes Out

Expect resistance

Before or even during the cleanse, corrupted enemies may spawn.

They’re fast, small, and often hit harder than expected. Some mobs even leave behind more corruption when killed, so you’ll want to clean the area fast to prevent a chain reaction.

Use your best weapons to clear them out. Avoid low-visibility areas like thick grass or caves unless you enjoy blind panic.

Step 5: Repeat as Needed

Cleaning is a full-time job

There are lots of spawners scattered around corrupted zones and meteor sites. Each one needs to be destroyed manually using the same method.

The Darkness Cleaner does have durability and cooldowns to manage, so don’t go charging in without energy cells or a backup weapon.

Also, don’t assume the area is safe just because it looks clear. Corruption sometimes lingers in hard-to-see spots and can respawn mobs over time.

Final Blurb

The Darkness Cleaner isn’t just a fancy flashlight. It’s your main tool for getting rid of Red Darkness corruption and shutting down those nasty spawners.

Just don’t forget the Light Shards, or you’ll be waving a glowing stick at enemies while they turn you into space mulch.

FAQ

Q: How do you destroy Red Darkness Spawners?

You need to use the Darkness Cleaner and hold right-click while aiming at the base of the spawner. You must also have a Light Shard in your inventory.

Q: Can you destroy a spawner by killing all the enemies?

No, enemies will keep respawning until the spawner is cleansed with the proper weapon.

Q: Where do you get Light Shards?

They’re crafted at purification benches later in the story, or found in temple-related zones.

Q: Does the Darkness Cleaner work without Light Shards?

No, it only fires the cleansing beam if a Light Shard is in your inventory.

Q: Do corruption blocks spread on their own?

They can under certain conditions, especially after corrupted enemies die. Cleaning them fast helps slow that down.
