Oblivion Remastered: Illusion Leveling Guide

Illusion magic lets you manipulate light, silence enemies, charm people, and more — but it levels slowly unless you know the right tricks. Here’s a quick and simple way to train your Illusion skill in Oblivion Remastered.

Step 1: Get a Real Illusion Spell
You need a spell that actually costs magicka.
Spells like “Eye of Night” don’t use magicka, so they won’t give you any Illusion XP.
If you don’t have a working spell, head to:
Edgar’s Discount Spells in the Imperial City Market District.
Buy the spell Starlight. It’s a basic Illusion spell that creates light and uses just a bit of magicka.
Step 2: Equip and Cast the Spell Repeatedly
Open your magic menu and set Starlight as your active spell.
Then just start casting it over and over again.
You’ll gain Illusion experience each time, and the skill will increase even faster if the spell uses more magicka.
Tip: If you want to speed things up, make a custom Illusion spell that uses more magicka (once you have higher Restoration to make custom spells).
Step 3: Level While AFK (Optional)
If you're on PC, you can rubber-band your cast key or use a macro to spam-cast while you do something else.
Just make sure you have enough magicka regeneration or a stack of potions to keep going.
Final Blurb
Illusion may seem slow at first, but with the right spell and a little patience, you’ll be invisibly charming your way through Cyrodiil in no time. Just remember: if the spell doesn’t use magicka, it doesn’t level the skill.
