Oblivion Remastered What to Do First

So, you’ve escaped the sewers, the Emperor’s dead (awkward), and now Cyrodiil is your playground. But before you sprint off to fight mudcrabs or accidentally punch a guard, here’s a smarter way to kick off your adventure. Let’s mix things up and skip the obvious “save your game” advice — you’re not that reckless, right?

What to Do First in Oblivion Remastered

Join a Guild (Or All of Them)

Guilds in Oblivion aren’t just fancy clubs—they're your ticket to gold, gear, and storylines way more fun than saving the world. If you like swinging swords, casting spells, or "borrowing" items that don’t belong to you, there’s a guild for that. Oh, and yes, you can join them all—Tamriel doesn’t care about your conflicting interests.

  • Fighters Guild: For those who solve problems with sharp objects.

  • Mages Guild: If setting things on fire sounds like a good Tuesday.

  • Thieves Guild: Steal first, ask questions never.

  • Dark Brotherhood: For... darker hobbies.

  • Arena: Punch things for profit and glory.

Get a Free Horse

Walking is for peasants. If you want to cover ground faster, head to Weynon Priory after starting the main quest. Chat with Prior Maborel and he’ll hand over a free horse. Sure, it’s not winning any races, but it beats jogging across Cyrodiil like an amateur.

Clear Some Easy Dungeons

Nothing says "welcome to Oblivion" like looting your first dungeon. Right after leaving the sewers, there are caves practically begging you to rob them. Here’s a few nearby:

  • Vilverin: Bandits and skeletons galore.

  • Sideways Cave: Weird name, decent loot.

  • Sinkhole Cave: Bandits waiting to donate their belongings.

You’ll get XP, gear, and a healthy fear of traps.

Make Some Potions and Profit

Alchemy is basically legal cheating. Grab a Mortar and Pestle, pick every plant you see, and start mixing. Even if you don’t need potions, merchants love buying your questionable herbal concoctions. If you want free ingredients and tools, join the Mages Guild—they leave that stuff lying around like it’s worthless.

Find an Enchanted Weapon Early

Sooner or later, you’ll meet a ghost who laughs at your iron sword. To avoid looking silly, grab an enchanted weapon ASAP. The Unfriendly Competition quest in the Imperial City is a great start—it rewards you with not one, but two enchanted weapons. If that’s too much effort, look for silver weapons in guild halls.

Final Blurb

Oblivion Remastered doesn’t care how you play—explore, steal, fight, or just pick flowers for hours. These tips just make sure you don’t end up broke, slow, and haunted by enemies you can’t hit. Now, go make bad decisions across Cyrodiil like a true hero.
