Oblivion Remastered: Where to Buy Lockpicks

If you're planning to "borrow" a few things in Oblivion Remastered, you're going to need a healthy stash of lockpicks. And trust me, with how easy they snap, you'll need more than just a few.

Where to Buy Lockpicks

Shady Sam

Your first stop should be everyone's favorite sketchy businessman—Shady Sam. He’s hanging out northwest of the Imperial City walls, probably wondering why people keep trusting a guy literally named "Shady."

  • Location: Outside the Imperial City, between Talos Plaza and Elven Gardens gates.

  • Stock: 30 lockpicks.

  • Restock: Daily.

If you're low on cash, maybe don’t ask where he gets his inventory from.

Join the Thieves Guild

For a more "organized" source, join the Thieves Guild. Once you're in, you’ll unlock access to Fences who don’t just buy your stolen goods—they also sell lockpicks in bulk. It’s basically a loyalty program for criminals.

  • How to Join: Get caught stealing, or ask beggars in the Imperial City about the Gray Fox.

  • Bonus: More Fences unlock as you climb the ranks.

Dark Brotherhood (Optional)

If you're feeling... murderous, the Dark Brotherhood also has merchants willing to sell you some picks. Not as many as the Thieves Guild, but enough to keep your lockpicking hobby alive.

  • How to Join: Kill an innocent NPC and take a nap.

Looting Lockpicks

If gold is tight, go dungeon diving. Bandits, goblins, and chests scattered around Cyrodiil often carry a few lockpicks. It’s not reliable, but hey, free is free.

Final Blurb

If you're planning a life of crime in Cyrodiil, make friends with Shady Sam and the Thieves Guild. And remember—always carry more lockpicks than you think you'll need. Because you will absolutely need them.
