OSRS F2P Ironman Money Making Guide (2025)
Written by Andrew Hammel
This F2P OSRS Ironman money making guide shows the best gold methods for 2025 without membership or the Grand Exchange. If you’re early game, rebuilding, or avoiding risk, every method here is real, tested, and works on a brand-new Ironman.
Stronghold and Starting Methods
Stronghold of Security
Clearing all three floors gives a total of 10,000 coins. Bring cooked food or take meat from the Barbarian Village tables. This is risky but a strong early payout.
Sheep Shearer and Banana Crate Runs
Finish Sheep Shearer for a quick 60 coins. After that, start Pirate’s Treasure and fill Luthas’ crate with bananas for 30 coins each. Just repeat the run until you can afford tools. You can finish the quest after to earn a gold ring, an emerald, and 450 more coins.
Black Knights' Fortress
Requires 12 Quest Points. Finishing it gives 2,500 coins. Combine with other early quests to unlock it faster.
The Knight's Sword
This quest gives no gold, but it boosts Smithing from level 1 to 29. That unlocks iron gear, which you can smith and sell for steady coin.
Wilderness Looting Methods
Collecting Steel Platelegs
Loot steel platelegs north of the Graveyard of Shadows. Hop worlds and bank at Ferox Enclave. Each pair sells for 650 coins at Louie Legs in Al Kharid. A full inventory is over 18,000 coins. Avoid on Hardcore Ironmen.
Iron Bar Spawn
Grab the iron bar spawn near the bears in level 18 Wilderness west of the Graveyard. It respawns fast and is easy to collect while world-hopping. Not safe for Hardcore Ironmen.
Gold Ore Collection
If you have 40 Smithing and 5 Crafting, you can grab gold ore near the same Wilderness ruins. Smelt it into gold bars at the nearby furnace and make jewelry if you bring a mould. Bank at Ferox Enclave. Risky, but efficient.
Skilling and Combat Methods
Cutting Gems from Shops
Buy uncut gems, cut them, and sell them back. Al Kharid works well. World-hop to restock. Crafting 27+ is recommended.
Telegrab Wine of Zamorak
Use Telekinetic Grab at the Chaos Temple. Wines can be high alched for solid early profit. Bring enough food if you’re low level.
Killing Wizards
Kill level 13 wizards south of Falador. They drop elemental runes and staffs. You can use the gear or alch it for cash.
Killing Hill Giants
Kill giants in Edgeville Dungeon for big bones and limpwurt roots. Bank at Edgeville or bury bones on-site. Alch or sell any useful drops.
Killing Minotaurs
Minotaurs in the Stronghold drop lots of iron arrows. Use a safe spot with Ranged. Good starter gear and ammo.
Smithing Iron Gear
Mine and smelt iron, then smith it into platelegs or swords. High alch them or sell to general stores in low amounts. Works even in early F2P zones.
Crafting Body Runes
Use rune essence to craft body runes and sell them to the Varrock rune shop. It’s not fast, but builds early Runecrafting and saves magic runes.
Passive and AFK-Friendly Options
Mining Clay or Iron
Mine clay or iron ore and bank it. Useful for later skilling, and good if you just need something passive to do.
Cooking and Selling in Al Kharid
Cook fish or meat and sell the food to the nearby shop. It’s not great money, but clears your bank and builds Cooking XP.
Bone Yard Looting
Loot bones and junk from the Bone Yard in deep Wilderness. Respawns are fast. Run when you see anyone.
Final Blurb
F2P Ironman gold comes down to world-hopping, looting smart, and knowing when to take a risk.
Don’t waste time grinding bad drops. Just stack up coins while you train or prep for P2P.
