PEAK Game Status Effects and Debuffs Guide
Please note this guide is a work in progress and we will be continuing to update it.
PEAK doesn’t mess around with its status effects and debuffs. If you're not paying attention, a single snack can ruin your stamina bar, put you to sleep, or just straight-up kill you later.
Here's every debuff and status effect you can run into, how they work, and what actually fixes them.
How Status Effects Work
Affliction Bar
Every item adds to your “affliction bar”. If it fills up, you're in trouble. Max capacity is 40 weight... and every 4 points equals a 10 Max Stamina penalty. Most things you eat are only 1 or 2 weight, but it adds up fast.
Extra Stamina vs Max Stamina
Max Stamina gets reduced by injuries, hunger, cold, and item weight.
Extra Stamina is a bonus pool (up to 100) that only kicks in after regular stamina runs out. It’s temporary and ignores most penalties.
PEAK Status Effects and What They Do
Poison
Usually triggered by bad berries or mushrooms, but also stuff like Ticks.
Does 3 poison per second over several seconds.
Lowers Max Stamina by increasing your Poison affliction.
Fixed by: Antidote, Cure-All, Medicinal Root, First Aid Kit.
Common culprits:
Green Crispberry
Pink Berrynana
Yellow Kingberry
Button Shroom (Poison)
Bugle Shroom (Poison)
Cluster Shroom (Poison)
Hunger
For every 1 point of Hunger, you lose 1 Max Stamina.
Fixed by eating... but watch what you eat.
Chaos
Chaos from Pandora’s Lunchbox clears all current status effects, then randomly adds new ones (both good and bad) based on a hidden point budget, with most players getting around two effects.
Applied by Pandora’s Lunchbox.
Cold
Cuts into your stamina bar the longer you stay in freezing areas.
Cold debuffs build up over time unless you warm up.
Fixed by: Hot food or drinks, Cure-All, Heat Pack.
Good warmers:
Scorchberry
Coconut Half
Orange Winterberry
Sports Drink
Drowsy
Builds up when using items like Napberries or Energy Drinks.
Too much Drowsy might make you pass out.
Fixed by: Energy Drink, Cure-All (removes Drowsy).
Curse
Rare and nasty. Almost nothing clears Curse except Cure-All.
Napberries don’t work on it.
Glowing
Comes from eating a Weird Shroom.
Harmless... unless you’re trying to hide.
Infinite Stamina
Not a debuff, but an active status from items like Lollipops or Bugles.
Prevents regular stamina use for a short time.
Applied by: Big Lollipop, Bugle of Friendship.
FasterBoi
Energy drink affliction; Needs udpating.
ClearAllStatus
Cursed Skull does this.
Wipes all status effects in a huge radius.
Also kills you instantly.
Injury
Reduces your Max Stamina directly.
Often gained from falling or some enemy attacks.
Fixed by: Bandages, First Aid Kit, Cure-All, Red Clusterberry, Medicinal Root, Yellow Winterberry.
Cures by Type
Poison: Antidote, Medicinal Root, First Aid Kit, Cure-All
Injury: Bandages, First Aid Kit, Cure-All
Drowsy: Cure-All, Energy Drink
Cold: Heat Pack, Cure-All, warm food
Curse: Cure-All only
All (except Curse): Napberry
All (including Curse): Cursed Skull (technically...)
Final Blurb
PEAK’s status effects can quietly destroy your stamina bar before you realize what’s happening. Keep a Cure-All or Antidote on hand, especially when munching mushrooms or trying new fruits.
And if you're glowing maybe don't go sneaking around the jungle like it's fine.
FAQ
Q: What happens if I eat too many poisonous items in PEAK?
You build up poison over time and lose Max Stamina. Enough poison can eventually knock you out if not cured.
Q: Can you survive with high Injury or Poison?
Yes, but your Max Stamina will be terrible. It’s manageable in short runs, but you’ll struggle to climb later.
Q: Is there any way to clear all effects at once?
Cure-All clears almost everything, except Curse. The Cursed Skull clears everything... but kills you.
Q: Does Cold go away on its own?
No. You need to warm up with heat-based items, or it’ll keep draining your stamina.
Q: Is Drowsy permanent?
No, but it builds up fast. Too much Drowsy will knock you out. Cure-All or an Energy Drink will fix it.
Q: Do status effects carry between levels?
Yes. If you're poisoned or injured, it sticks with you until cured. Always heal before progressing.
