PEAK Game Hunger Guide

Written by Jason B.

Hunger in PEAK slowly lowers your maximum stamina over time. If you don’t eat, your climb gets shorter and more dangerous until you eventually can't continue.

Here’s how hunger works, how to cure it, and what food is worth bringing.

How Hunger Works

As hunger increases, your stamina cap shrinks.

This doesn’t happen all at once. You’ll lose it bit by bit until you can barely climb.

Tenderfoot mode reduces how fast this happens. You can toggle that at the airport kiosk before starting a run.

How to Refill Hunger Meter

Eating any food will stop your stamina from draining further.

There are two ways to get food:

  • Foraging from the environment

  • Looting luggage and containers

Coconuts are the most reliable early on. They give two bites when cracked and are easy to spot.

Packaged food like Trail Mix, Airline Food, or Granola Bars works instantly. If you overeat, the extra fills your stamina to above max for a short time.

Cooking Food

Cook food once to get a big bonus to hunger restoration.

Use a campfire or Portable Stove. Hold the interact button to cook.

One cook gives a 66 percent hunger bonus. Cooking twice removes that bonus. Cooking three times burns it and can poison you.

Always cook once and leave it at that.

Poisoned Food

Some berries and mushrooms can poison you if eaten.

You’ll get a green screen effect and start losing stamina quickly.

To fix it, use an Antidote or Cure-All. If you have neither, the poison wears off eventually, but it’s risky to wait it out.

You can test unknown food by throwing it and checking the tooltip before eating.

Best Food Items

  • Coconut – Easy to find, two uses per item

  • Honeycomb – Heals and restores hunger

  • Granola Bar – Fills hunger and boosts stamina

  • Cure-All – Rare but removes poison and restores stamina fully

You can also unlock a reward for finishing a climb without eating packaged food.

That means only eating foraged items like fruit or coconuts. If you finish a full climb that way, you unlock a cosmetic hat.

Final Blurb

Hunger in PEAK is quiet but dangerous. If your stamina bar starts shrinking, that means you waited too long to eat.

Forage what you can, cook smart, and avoid poisoning yourself with random mushrooms unless you're into unnecessary drama.
