The Duck in R.E.P.O. is one of those enemies that makes you question everything. It looks harmless. It follows you around. It practically begs you to pick it up. But if you do—well, let’s just say this isn’t the cute little pond bird you were hoping for.
Here’s everything you need to know about this Apex Predator Duck Demon before it tricks you into a horrible mistake.
What Does the Duck Do?
The Duck appears early in the game, commonly showing up in Manor, Station, and Academy levels.
It follows you like a devoted pet, waiting—no, begging—for you to pick it up.
If you interact with it, it reveals its true form: a floating, wing-flapping, screaming menace with a mouth full of nightmare teeth.
Once enraged, the Duck will attack for 10 seconds before calming down and pretending like nothing happened.
How to Avoid Getting Mauled by a Duck
Do. Not. Pick. It. Up.
No matter how cute or innocent it looks, this thing wants you to grab it. Don’t fall for it.
Don’t Drop Items on It
Accidentally hitting it with loot or weapons? Bad idea. The Duck takes offense and will come after you.
Watch Your Cursor
If the cursor turns yellow, it means you’re about to interact with something. Be extra careful when moving items near the Duck—it loves getting in the way.
Listen for Quacks
If you hear quacking, stay alert. It usually means the Duck is nearby, and worse, it may also mean another, more aggressive monster is lurking.
Run if It’s Enraged
Once the Duck is activated, just run.
Shut doors behind you to slow it down.
Do not stand still—it will find you.
Can You Kill the Duck?
No. We tried. A lot. The Duck is unkillable. No matter how many weapons you throw at it, it just keeps coming back, smug and unbothered.
The best strategy? Ignore it, dodge it, and never, ever trust it.
