If you’ve been building bases, dodging dragon spit, and punching goblins for hours and suddenly wondered, “Wait… can I smack my friends too?”—the answer is yes. Sort of. RuneScape: Dragonwilds has PvP, but it’s not quite the Wildy you might remember.

Here’s everything we know about player vs. player combat so far.

Is PvP in RuneScape: Dragonwilds?

Yes, but not by default. RuneScape: Dragonwilds lets you toggle PvP through a Friendly Fire setting. It’s more like co-op combat than a full-blown PvP mod, but if you want to settle arguments the old-fashioned way (with arrows), you totally can.

How to Enable PvP

  • When you create or edit a world, you can turn on Friendly Fire in the settings.

  • This allows you and your co-op buddies (up to 4 players total) to deal damage to each other.

  • There is no public PvP or matchmaking at the time of writing—this is strictly between friends who choose to turn it on on the same world.

Tips for Friendly Fire

  • Be careful with AoE magic and spells like fire blasts—they hit everyone nearby, not just enemies.

  • You can’t toggle it mid-combat, so if things go south… you’ll have to finish what you started.

  • PvP damage does not reward XP or loot beyond what your friends drop when they fall over and curse your name.

No PvP Zones or Arenas (Yet)

Currently, there are:

  • No PvP zones

  • No dueling arenas

  • No leaderboard or PvP ranking

It’s just opt-in choice with your party. This could change down the line with future updates or modes (which would be epic), especially as dedicated servers and community tools roll out.

Why Enable It?

  • For fun. Or spite.

  • To make co-op survival more intense.

  • To test new weapons or spells (preferably not by surprise).

Final Blurb

PvP in RuneScape: Dragonwilds isn’t about ambushing strangers in the wilderness—it’s more about sparring (or "accidentally" fireballing) your friends during co-op. With Friendly Fire toggled on, anything goes. Just don’t get mad when your buddy drops a poison cloud on your base and swears it was an accident.
