The new Throwing Daggers in V Rising (introduced with the Invaders of Oakveil 1.1 update) are quickly becoming a fan-favorite for both PvE and boss fights. Here’s everything you need to know.
How to Unlock Throwing Daggers
You can unlock daggers by defeating Bane the Shadowblade, a boss in Dunley Farmlands. Once you defeat him, you'll gain access to the Daggers weapon recipe, along with other rewards like the Human Form and Veil of Bones abilities.
Throwing Daggers Primary Attack
Throw Daggers
Throw up to 4 daggers at once
Each dagger deals 40% physical damage
Daggers stick into enemies or the ground
You regain one dagger stack every 1 second
This creates a rhythm where you balance throwing and recovering daggers throughout combat.
Special Abilities
Rain of Daggers
Leap into the air and throw 4 daggers
Each dagger deals 40% physical damage
Inflicts a 2-second fading snare
Daggers stay on the ground for 8 seconds
Perfect for zoning or stacking daggers for later use.
Release Daggers
Snare enemies for 1.5 seconds
All stuck daggers return to you
Returning daggers deal piercing damage and 40% normal damage
Each returning dagger reduces Rain of Daggers’ cooldown by 0.2 seconds and grants a new dagger stack
This gives the daggers a unique "setup and burst" style, great for planning high-damage recalls.
Legendary Weapon
The Wraithblades
Synergize with Illusion magic’s phantasm stacks
Boost Rain of Daggers damage
Grant extra phantasm stacks when recalling daggers
Players using illusion builds or hybrid melee/magic setups can push this synergy to deal massive burst damage.
Playstyle Tips
Positioning is key. Daggers thrive on movement and spacing.
Stack daggers around bosses or high-health enemies before using Release Daggers for devastating burst damage.
Critical builds shine. Many players report combining Warrior and Rogue blood for high crit chance and bonus damage.
Cooldown management. Smart use of Release Daggers reduces cooldowns and keeps your DPS flowing.
While PvP scaling seems to be lower, the daggers excel at PvE and boss fights, especially when paired with damage-enhancing elixirs or coatings.
Overall Impressions
We’ve seen a lot of players report the Throwing Daggers outperforming older weapon choices like Reapers and Scythes in boss fights, and some even describe the daggers as turning your vampire into Xayah from League of Legends, with mid-range kiting, strong AoE, and burst potential.
After trying them out ourselves… We have to agree.
Final Blurb
The Throwing Daggers bring a new, highly mobile playstyle to V Rising. Whether you’re clearing mobs or melting bosses, mastering their throw-and-recall rhythm is the key to unlocking their full potential.
