Deltarune Jackenstein Fight Walkthrough & Guide

Written by Aarav Agarwal

YOUR TAKING TOO LONG

Jackenstein is a required miniboss in Chapter 4, and no, you can't sneak around him. He’s the big roadblock that locks the climbing tools, which you’ll need to keep moving through the rest of the chapter.

Beating him takes more than just spamming attack... it’s a weird one.

Where to Find Jackenstein

You’ll run into Jackenstein after reaching the northwest library section near Gerson’s place.

Solve the piano slide puzzles to collect eight music notes. Once you've got them all, play the tune at the Delta Rune doorway. That unlocks the boss room.

How to Beat Jackenstein: Fight Strategy

Step 1: Don’t Fight Yet

Jackenstein starts by trapping you in a maze-like minigame. You’ll be running through a dark 2D area, dodging walls and collecting glowing dots (which build up TP). You’ll need to find a key inside the maze before you can exit.

A pumpkin will eventually chase you too. Try not to panic.

Step 2: Defend to Build TP

Keep using the Defend command during your turns. The fight mostly happens in the maze sequence, but building TP with Defend is what you’ll need to trigger your one real attack.

Step 3: Use “Unleash” from the Act Menu

Once you have at least 60% TP, Kris will unlock a move called Unleash under the Act menu. Use it to go on offense.

This flips the rules: instead of running, you get to chase Jackenstein inside the maze. Hit him to deal damage... then repeat.

You’ll need to do this several times to finish the fight. Just one Unleash won’t cut it.

What Happens After the Fight

Beat Jackenstein and you’ll finally get access to the climbing gear. From here, you can explore the vertical areas that were blocked before... and yes, it’s required to keep going.

Final Blurb

Jackenstein feels more like a haunted minigame than a traditional boss, but you still have to take him down if you want those tools. Stock up on TP, hit Unleash when ready, and chase that science fair reject back into the shadows.
