Upgrading your Loom in RuneScape: Dragonwilds unlocks better armor materials like Padded Cloth, which you’ll need for higher-tier crafting. But you can’t just spin threads and hope for the best — you’ll need to craft smarter, not harder.
Where to Find the Loom
The Loom is part of your Crafting Station, usually found at your base or settlement. If it’s not unlocked yet, you’ll need to complete the early crafting tutorials or settle into one of the first safe zones.
Basic Recipes Before Upgrading
Here’s what you can make before upgrading the loom:
Rough Cloth = 3 Coarse Thread
Wool Cloth = 3 Wool Thread
These two are the starting ingredients for better armor.
Upgraded Recipes (Loom Harness Required)
Once you upgrade the loom with a Loom Harness, new recipes become available:
Padded Cloth = 1 Rough Cloth + 1 Wool Cloth
This material is used to make stronger early armor sets and is a stepping stone for mid-tier gear.
How to Upgrade the Loom
To upgrade your Loom and unlock the Loom Harness crafting tier:
Progress in Crafting Tier
Complete early crafting goals to raise your station level.
Craft multiple cloths and basic armor to unlock the next tech level.
Research the Loom Harness
Head to your Research Station and scan either a Padded Cloth or upgrade schematic (may drop from enemies or be found in loot chests).
Spend Research Points to unlock the Harness tier.
Install the Loom Harness
Once unlocked, craft the Loom Harness using basic resources (usually Rough Cloth and Iron components).
Add it to the Loom through the Upgrade Menu.
Final Blurb
Upgrading your Loom isn’t flashy, but it’s essential if you want to stop looking like a scarecrow in combat. Padded Cloth may not save your life, but hey — it’s at least softer than bark and twine.
