Luma Island: How to Use Fertilizer
In Luma Island farming is very important, and Fertilizer plays a crucial role in growing healthy crops with bountiful harvests. This guide will walk you through the steps to craft and use fertilizer the right way.
1. Crafting Fertilizer
To create fertilizer you'll need a Kiln and specific types of wood.
Steps:
Obtain a Kiln: Build a Kiln using the crafting menu.
Gather Wood: Collect wood from different areas:
Farm Wood: Found in the farm area.
Forest Wood: Collected from the forest region.
Mountain Wood: Sourced from mountainous areas.
Jungle Wood: Harvested in the jungle zone.
Craft Fertilizer: Place one piece of wood into the Kiln to produce five units of fertilizer. The type of fertilizer corresponds to the wood used:
Farm Wood: Produces Farm Fertilizer.
Forest Wood: Yields Forest Fertilizer.
Mountain Wood: Creates Mountain Fertilizer.
Jungle Wood: Generates Jungle Fertilizer.
2. Applying Fertilizer to Crops
Fertilizer is essential for certain crops, especially those that can be harvested multiple times.
How to Apply:
Manual Application:
Select Fertilizer: Choose the appropriate fertilizer from your inventory.
Apply to Crop: Interact with the crop to apply the fertilizer.
Using Sprinklers:
Install Sprinklers: Place small or large sprinklers in your field.
Load Fertilizer: Add up to 100 units of each fertilizer type into the sprinkler.
Automatic Application: The sprinkler will automatically water and fertilize crops within its range.
3. Understanding Crop Requirements
Not all crops require fertilizer, but many benefit from it, especially those that regrow after harvesting.
Crops and Their Needs:
No Fertilizer Needed:
Wheat
Blueberry
Strawberry
Sunflower
Tomato
Sugarcane
Eggplant
Pumpkin
Fertilizer Required:
Grapes (Farm Fertilizer)
Apple (Farm Fertilizer)
Orange (Farm Fertilizer)
Cherry (Forest Fertilizer)
Starfruit (Forest Fertilizer)
Chilli Pepper (Forest Fertilizer)
Almond (Mountain Fertilizer)
Kiwifruit (Mountain Fertilizer)
Cocoa Bean (Mountain Fertilizer)
Potato (Mountain Fertilizer)
Coffee Bean (Jungle Fertilizer)
Watermelon (Jungle Fertilizer)
Mango (Jungle Fertilizer)
Note: Everseed variants of crops do not require fertilizer after the initial planting.
4. Automating Fertilization
To really streamline your farming operations you should look into automating the fertilization process…
Using Sprinklers:
Small Sprinkler: Covers a 7x7 area.
Large Sprinkler: Covers a 9x9 area.
Both types can be loaded with up to 100 units of each fertilizer type, allowing for automatic application as needed.
And that should cover it! Best of luck farming, my friends.
