You can’t just brute force your way through Roadcraft. If you don’t plan ahead and learn how to use the game’s tools, you’ll spend more time flipping trucks than fixing anything.

Here’s a full list of actual working tips to help you get things done right... before your AI convoy decides to run full speed into a telephone pole.

Learn the truck tools early

Use AWD and Diff Lock on bad ground

All-wheel drive and diff lock are free to use here, so use them any time the road starts getting soggy. AWD gives you traction, and diff lock keeps your wheels from spinning separately.

Just remember, diff lock on corners can make the truck turn like it’s drunk.

Low range is for climbing

Low gear slows you down but gives you way more power. If you’re struggling on a hill or in deep mud, this setting helps you push through it instead of spinning your tires.

Reinforce roads before sending the AI

Sand fixes almost everything

The AI is great at flipping over. A single stretch of wet road can ruin an entire delivery route.

If you see dark mud or thin terrain on the map, drop a few loads of sand before letting the convoy loose. Then pave it properly when you get the chance.

Use the terrain scanner

The scanner tool shows slope and depth of water. If you're constantly guessing where to drive and getting stuck, this will save you.

It’s built into some vehicles and worth checking every time you’re scouting.

Strap down your cargo

Tie it or lose it

You can strap materials down in your truck bed using the vehicle options. This stops pipes and slabs from bouncing around or falling out.

Do it before every drive. One sharp turn and your steel beams will be halfway down a hill.

strap down logs and cargo

Always recycle scrap on the way back

Empty truck? Fill it with junk

If you're done with a job and heading back, grab some rubble. Anything glowing blue can be dragged or lifted into your truck and taken to the recycling center.

That gets turned into useful building materials like concrete or steel pipes.

Build your own shortcuts

Craft your own roads

You can dump sand, flatten it with a grater, and finish it with asphalt and a roller.

You don’t need a mission to do it. If a path sucks, fix it yourself. You can even build over creeks or through forests.

Clear trees and junk manually

Use a harvester or bulldozer to clear routes before laying roads. This helps AI and players drive faster without getting stuck on stumps or debris.

Upgrade your vehicles as soon as you can

Older vehicles fall behind fast

You earn money from jobs, and the shop lets you buy better versions of your gear. Most of them drive better, carry more, and have more features.

You can also sell your old vehicles if you don’t need them anymore.

Cancel useless AI routes

They’ll just keep looping

Once a delivery line finishes its rewards, your trucks will keep driving it anyway. Cancel the route when it’s done so they don’t block roads or waste your attention.

Use co-op to speed things up

Share the grind

In multiplayer, friends can work on different parts of the map at once. One can haul sand while another clears trees or loads materials.

Since everything wears down faster in co-op, this also helps prevent the same roads from falling apart too quickly.

Park trucks where you need them

Don’t garage everything

Vehicles you leave out can be fast traveled to. This saves time when working on a project far from your base.

If you’re done with a dump truck, leave it near the worksite. You can hop back in later without driving across the entire map.

Adjust the camera and HUD

Set map orientation to North

Default camera settings follow your vehicle, which makes plotting routes a mess. Change it to North in the settings to make navigation easier.

Also, raise your FOV and use cockpit view when clearing tight areas. It makes a huge difference.

Final Blurb & FAQ

Roadcraft is a game that rewards problem solving and patience.

These tips won’t fix every issue, but they’ll keep you from getting stuck on the same busted road for 20 minutes straight.
