You can’t. That’s the whole guide… Just kidding. We’ve at least got some potential ways to help.

As of now, there is no option to stop the engine in RoadCraft; not in the settings, not in the keybinds, not hidden behind a mechanic unlock. You can hop in and out of vehicles all you want, but once the engine's on, it stays on.

Why Would You Want to Turn the Engine Off?

Really just for immersion, realism, or to stop their machine from constantly idling while parked. It’d be nice to use it in first-person mode, where having the dials still active even when the vehicle is parked can mess with things.

In games like SnowRunner or MudRunner, cutting the engine was part of fuel and damage strategy. In RoadCraft, there's no fuel management or vehicle damage (at least not yet), so there’s technically no reason to turn it off.

What You Can Do Instead

If you're desperate for peace and quiet:

  • Just exit the vehicle. It won’t shut off, but at least you’ll be away from the sound.

  • Turn down vehicle volume in settings, the motor sound is constant otherwise.

  • Use a quieter vehicle when working in close quarters like crane operations

Will They Add It Later?

No official word yet. But based on community feedback, the devs have definitely heard the complaints.

If they plan to add hardcore mechanics like fuel consumption, idle damage, or full sim mode, this feature might show up in a patch.

For now, though, it’s full throttle all the time.

Final Blurb & FAQ

Right now in RoadCraft, once you start an engine, it runs forever. There's no button to shut it off, no workaround, and no toggle in the settings.

For better or worse, you're stuck listening to it until you walk away.
