How to Shoot in Caves of Qud
Shooting is a key part of combat in Caves of Qud with ranged weapons like pistols, rifles, or bows. Here’s a simple guide on how to shoot:
Step 1: Equip a Ranged Weapon
Open your inventory (press "i") and find the weapon you want to use.
Equip the weapon in your primary hand or ranged weapon slot.
Make sure you also have the correct ammo (e.g., lead slugs for firearms, arrows for bows).
Step 2: Ready to Fire
Press "f" to activate fire mode.
Your targeting cursor will appear, letting you aim your shot.
Step 3: Aim at Your Target
Use the arrow keys or your mouse to move the cursor and select your target.
The game will highlight valid targets within your weapon's range.
Check for obstacles like walls or other objects that might block your shot.
Step 4: Fire the Weapon
Once your cursor is over the target, press Enter to fire.
Your character will attack using the equipped ranged weapon and consume ammo.
If you miss, try repositioning or waiting for a clearer shot.
Step 5: Reload (If Necessary)
If your weapon runs out of ammo, you’ll need to reload.
Open your inventory and ensure you have the correct ammunition.
Reload automatically by pressing "r" when using a firearm, or manually equip ammo like arrows for bows.
Tips for Shooting
Check your ammo. Always carry enough for extended battles.
Upgrade your ranged skills. Skills like Marksmanship improve accuracy and damage.
Pick the right weapon. Rifles are better for long-range shots, while pistols are good for close quarters.
Use cover. Try to avoid standing in the open when shooting, as enemies might retaliate.
