Mycopunk Matchmaking Guide
Written by Jason B.
Mycopunk matchmaking lets up to four players squad up for every mission. Matchmaking is built in, so even if you're playing solo or with just one friend in co-op, the game will try to fill your team automatically. This keeps the action going without forcing you to find a full party.
How many players can play together
The game supports a maximum of four players per mission.
Each of the four classes fills a distinct role. You’ve got offensive damage, crowd control, support tools, and mobility options spread across the roster. Missions are designed to take advantage of this full class synergy. If you’re missing roles, you’ll definitely feel it during tougher fights or objective pushes.
While you can launch a mission solo or with fewer than four players, the game won’t go easier on you unless you lower the difficulty manually. Expect longer fights and more stress if you’re not at full strength.
How matchmaking works
Matchmaking in Mycopunk is automatic by default.
If you start a mission with less than four people in your party, the game will search for other players and fill your squad in the background. Once four players are found, the mission launches as normal. If the wait is too long or no one is available, you can still proceed, but with fewer allies.
You can also invite friends directly through the multiplayer lobby. Once grouped, you’ll stay together for back-to-back missions. If your party is private, matchmaking won’t try to fill extra spots unless you open it up again.

The system works in every main mission, including story chapters, bounty missions, and side objectives. There’s no separate solo queue or co-op queue; it’s all handled in one matchmaking pool.
Matchmaking tips
Stick to public parties if you want faster matchmaking. Private lobbies won’t fill empty spots.
Use voice or pings when possible. Mycopunk has limited communication options, so solo queue coordination can get messy without it.
Let matchmaking finish before launching. Rushing into a mission alone when you could’ve had teammates often backfires.
Use balanced class comps. While you can technically run all one class, the difficulty spike is noticeable. Try to have one support or mobility-focused teammate to round things out.
Requeue between missions if someone disconnects. The game doesn’t backfill during missions, so you’ll need to regroup afterward.
Matchmaking bugs and quirks
Right now, there are occasional issues with matchmaking getting stuck or not finding players. Restarting the game usually helps. There’s no penalty for backing out before the mission starts, so if your queue seems bugged, leave and retry.
Also, if someone in your party quits mid-mission, the game won’t refill that spot. You’ll be down a teammate for the rest of the run unless you fail and restart.
Final Blurb
Mycopunk was clearly built with four-player squads in mind. The game still works solo, but the pacing, enemy design, and class mechanics all feel better with a full team. Matchmaking handles most of the heavy lifting for you, so don’t stress about filling every slot.
Just queue up, lock in a balanced class, and get to work.
