You can find Minerals in the outer part of the map before the bridge, after unlocking tools like the Drill Charges and Climbing Hook. This deposit is needed for building key base modules and shows up as gold cube icons during exploration.
How to Reach the Mineral Deposit
Leave your base and head toward the area right before the bridge.
You’ll need Drill Charges to break rock walls and a Climbing Hook to move across higher ledges.
The Mineral area is also your first encounter with Anomalies. These hazards move slowly, but if they touch you, you’ll gain radiation. Walk slowly and avoid contact as you pass through.
How to Scan for Minerals
Equip your scanner using the inventory wheel.
Place scanning probes to form a full loop. This will scan the ground in that section.
Look for the reddest part underground. That spot is the deepest point and marks the best place to build a Mining Outpost.
How to Build and Connect a Mining Outpost
After scanning the right spot, go back to your base and craft a Mining Outpost using 30 metal.
Return to the Mineral Deposit and place the outpost on the deepest point.
Then, craft and place Pylons to connect the outpost back to your base. Use as few as possible, but make sure each link is active by checking for the green line.
Once connected, the outpost can be used for fast travel.
How to Start Mining Minerals
Walk to the outpost and use the terminal to begin mining.
Mining does not start on its own. You have to activate it manually.
Later in the story, you can assign alters to handle Mineral mining for you.
