Written by Andrew Hammel
Here’s a guide on how to beat the first major boss in the Lies of P Overture DLC; the Tyrannical Predator. It’s tanky, unpredictable, and fond of one-shot grabs.
If you’re rusty, this thing will wake you up fast.

Bring the Right Loadout
Tyrannical Predator is a carcass-type, which means it takes massive bonus damage from fire.
Use the Salamander Blade with an Acidic Spear Handle if you’re specced into Advance
Add a Fire Abrasive to boost burn damage even more
Equip the Carcass Butcher's Amulet to stack damage against carcass enemies
Bring the Aegis Legion Arm and keep it up… you can poke from behind it if your stamina is solid
This setup melts his health while letting you play safe.
Learn the Mouth Attacks
Most of his damage comes from his mouth-based combo attacks and his grab.
Lunge: He turns his head, delays, then snaps. Dodge last-second to the open side.
Slam: A two-hit slam, sometimes followed by a Tail Whip. Either parry or dodge diagonally forward.
Bite: He stands tall, then crashes down. Parry just before he lands. Free punish window.
Grab: A charged forward snap that can grab and one-shot. Sprint sideways, then dodge just before he clamps down.
Most of these are bait setups for the Tail Whip, which can follow almost any move.
Watch the Tail Whip
This is the trickiest part of the fight. He spins with almost no warning after combos, especially when you attack from behind.
If you hear a roar and see him tense up, expect the whip
Don’t heal or idle near his rear unless you want a lesson in regret
Boss Strategy
Open aggressively; he has a long intro animation you can punish
Keep fire damage applied at all times
If you can stagger him, go all in with your strongest charged attacks
Don’t stress about perfect parries. Blocking with Aegis and poking is perfectly fine
Bring at least 10 Pulse Cells if you’re still getting used to the fight. You’ll need the room for mistakes
Boss Rewards
Taking him down rewards a Full Moonstone, perfect for early DLC weapon upgrades. Don’t forget to activate the Stargazer just beyond the cave once the fight ends.

Final Blurb
Tyrannical Predator may be the first boss, but he feels like a final exam. Between the erratic combos, the grab, and the spin, he’s meant to rattle you early. Just bring fire, learn the jaws, and don’t get fancy—he’ll go down hard.
