In Mirthwood, the Shadow in the Night quest involves investigating reports of a mysterious creature near Brightoak. Check out our quest guide and walkthrough here:

Quest Overview

• Objective: Investigate and decide the fate of a werewolf near Brightoak.

• Rewards:

  • If you spare Markus: +5 Morality points.

  • If you kill Markus: +5 Renown, Wolf Liver, 38 Gold, Markus' Tooth, and Markus' Note.

Steps to Complete the Quest

1. Initiate the Quest:

   • Travel to the cemetery in Brightoak.

   • Locate a note placed on a chair to trigger the quest.

2. Search for Clues:

   • Head south from Brightoak into the Murkwater Marsh.

   • Follow the path until you find a shattered wagon.

   • From the wagon, turn right to discover some ruins with a note—this is your first clue.

   • Continue along the southbound path to find a tree on the left side with claw marks; interact with it to obtain the second clue.

3. Locate Markus:

   • Using the clues, proceed to the area marked with a yellow circle on your map to find Markus, who transforms into a werewolf.

4. Make a Decision:

   • Upon confronting Markus, choose between:

     • Spare Markus: Gain +5 Morality points.

     • Kill Markus: Engage in combat; if victorious, receive +5 Renown, Wolf Liver, 38 Gold, Markus' Tooth (a charm that grants additional 5% damage against Wolves and Werewolves), and Markus' Note.

Tips

• Combat Preparedness: If you choose to fight Markus be certain you are well-equipped as he is a formidable opponent especially in the early stages of the game.

• Moral Choices: Consider the impact of your decision on your character's morality.
